VISIONARY PORTRAITS

For years I longed to paint portraits yet was terrified of it. And, as usual, the thing we fear most often ends up being the thing we most need to do, are meant to do. I bring to this work not only my training as a visual artist, but also as an expressive arts educator trained to uncover and work with people's personal mythologies. I also bring an inborn sensitivity to the invisible realms which finds expression visually over and over again through the act of painting and drawing.

I begin by getting to know my client through a process of thoughtful interview questions, and guided visualizations and meditations using my expressive arts therapy background. We then do a fun photo shoot. I find people very much enjoy being seen and witnessed in all their depth and dreams, as their god/goddess self. I then take this insight and let my intuition and my skill as a trained visual artist reveal an image that becomes an oil painting. The final portrait is ready in 3 to 6 months.

Visionary portraits can be used as a reminder, as a meditation tool or affirmation, to see a person in their spiritual essence. As a gift to one's self, (or someone else) to honor the divine within, to mark a life transition, or assist on a healing journey. Or to honor a family member, or child.

It is an amazing process to work collaboratively with others on this level, infused with synchronicity and magic! I feel honored to be able to participate in the soul life of another and endlessly intrigued by such abundant subject matter as human beings.
